A nurse practitioner is an experienced practice nurse who has undertaken further training. The development of this role is to share the workload of the GP's and to improve the standard of access to a healthcare professional.
The nurse practitioner will be available for consultation as an alternative to seeing a GP. She will continue to work alongside the other G.P's and may consult with them as necessary, although she is qualified to work as an independent practitioner. Helen can carry out any of the following:-
Receptionists provide an important link for patients within the practice and are your initial contact point for all general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
